Michele Dozier, DDS

Just to give you a little history on myself.  I was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived most of my adolescent years in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  I received my Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Medical Technology at West Chester University, during which I studied one year abroad at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas.  In January 2005, I received the Drum Major for Justice Humanitarian Award from my Alma mater West Chester University, which complements the "Key" from the city of West Chester as well as numerous honors from the City of Baltimore for my volunteer services.  I continue to serve my community as an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated in the Silver Spring area. 

In 2007 while receiving my journalism degree from the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland, I had the pleasure of hosting a radio show and two television shows in the Baltimore area.  In addition, I also serve as the Director of Media Relations for the Maryland Children's Oral Health Institute. 

I had the great opportunity of attending the University of Maryland Dental School, the direct descendant of the world's first dental college, the Baltimore college of Dental Surgery (BCDS).  After graduation in 2002, I worked as a general dentist during which I traveled to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Alaska to provide dental treatment for under-served pediatric populations.  During this time I discovered my passion for treating children.  I decided to move cross-country and obtain my specialty in pediatric dentistry at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  I am a member of the National Dental Society, Maryland Dental Society, the National Association of Black Jounalists,  Hispanic Dental Association and I am Board  Eligible, working towards becoming a diplomat at the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. 

Joseph B. Latta, D.D.S

A native of Springfield, MA, I received my B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from Florida A&M University and my Dental Degree from Howard University in Washington,  D.C.  I completed my graduate training in Pediatric Dentistry at Howard University and has done additional post graduate studies at the United States Dental Institute and The Institute for Growth and Development in Pediatric Dentistry, specializing in early treatment of malocclusion.  I have a special interest in patient management and in interceptive orthodontics in the growing child.  For more than 30 years, as the owner of Latta & Associates, D.D.S, P.A. now Nusmiles, I have built a private practice that served more than 10,000 patients in the Washington Metropolitan area.  I am now seeing the children of my previous patients, which gives me much pleasure. 

Karen Cooper, D.D.S

I am passionate about my work and desire to provide my patients with a gentle and caring dental experience in an unhurried environment. In my effort to deliver healthy and beautiful smiles, emphasis is placed on preventative practices, proper care and tooth preservation.  As the industry evolves, I am committed to participating in continuing education programs and seizing opportunities to keep abreast of new products and technologies to expand my knowledge and improve my technique. 

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, I have practiced dentistry in the Washington metropolitan area since 1993.  After completing my undergraduate studies at Spelman College, I attended Howard University where I received a Doctor of Dental Surgery.  Afterwards, I completed two years of post-doctoral training at Eastman Dental Center-AGD and University of Rochester-GRP.

My personal interests include spending time with family- my husband of almost three years, skiing and traveling.  I am also a deacon in my church and a member of AGD, Links and other national and church organizations that have a high regard for community service.  I believe that it is important to give back that which has been given. 

Since 1999, I have had the privilege of practicing alongside Dr. Latta in Takoma Park; and I now welcome the opportunity to team with Dr. Dozier.

Thomas Edler, D.D.S

Welcome to nusmiles, where we believe our practice is set apart from the others and has something more to offer than just basic dental care. I’ve been practicing for over 25 years and now I am a part of nusmles.  I take every case individually; I like to take the time to get to know my patients on a one-on-one basis.  I listen to you to understand your particular needs and desires, and then we’ll discuss each option with you on how best to enhance your smile.  With so many advances in the field of dentistry, you have more potential and possibilities available to you.  At nusmiles, we think you deserve the best, personalized care available. 

Attended Howard University where I received a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1986.  I had the honor of completing my residence at University Hospital, Newark, N.J. from 1986-1987, General Residency Program.  In 1989, received my Certificate in Prosthodontics, from the University of Maryland Dental School.  In 1990 received Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from the University of Texas, M.D.Anderson Cancer Center. I have received numerous awards from Howard University and the American Cancer Society to name a few. 

My personal interests include spending time with my wife Barbara and my beautiful daughter Devereaux.  I enjoy working out regularly, jogging, fishing and other sports.  I enjoy Jazz and theater.
